‘Runa’ TM tomato pastes are of top-quality |

|
The Research-and-Development Center of Independent Consumer Expertise has made the research of examining the quality of Ukrainian and foreign tomato pastes. The tests were made on tomato pastes of 14 trade marks from Ukraine and abroad. The final mark included the following indices of: the solids content, the thickener absence, the coloring agent absence, correspondence with the sodium chloride content (per cents), labeling, packaging, and the organoleptic properties.
Solids content. Due to the SSPU 3343-89, the concentrated tomato products are of three types: tomato mash, concentrated tomato juice and tomato paste. If the solids content is 12-20%, it is tomato mash; if the solids content is 25-40%, it is tomato paste. However, not all producers of the tomato paste follow these standards and sell to customers the tomato mash or the concentrated tomato juice as tomato paste.
Thickener. The tomato paste is produced without adding the starch or any other thickeners as well as sugar. These require is not followed by all producers as well: one could even write the starch in the ingredients which does not correspond to the SSPU 3343-89, the other could use the starch and do not mention this in the ingredients.
Coloring agents. The tomato paste is to have red, orange-red or crimson color. Adding of the coloring agents to the concentrated tomato products is forbidden in the SSPU. The examination results showed that all participants, which are producers of the tomato paste, follow this requires.
The examination results showed that ‘Runa’ TM tomato paste corresponds to all quality indices and got the ‘excellent’ mark.
